I apologize for the delay in additional challenges, but our teachers have been keeping me busy learning to implement new tech tools! In 4th grade Kelly Funk’s Literacy students reflected on their learning for Parent/Teacher Conferences using Movenote, Google URL Shortener, and then made QR Codes for easy access. Meanwhile, assisting their parents on how to download a QR Code reader to scan their codes. In addition, 7th grade students are using Movenote to share about their heritage, and where their families originate from. Coming up in December, Athena Kalaras’s 8th grade Spanish students will be creating presentations in Spanish about themselves, and two-additional family members. These are just some of the great things that we can accomplish with Movenote. Great work to our students, and teachers who provide these opportunities!

Connected Educator Month continues with many exciting sessions (check out the calendar). I have already taken part in two events, one was just yesterday “Making It Count: Integrating Formal & Informal PD” with a panel of amazing leaders (freebie for you @NMHS_Principal). Join me this coming Tuesday, October 8th by logging in and follow/contribute to the conversation on Twitter (7:00-8:00pm) using #ConnectEd. The focus of the conversation is on connected educators, and the benefits. What a great opportunity to extend your PLN (Personal Learning Network) by connecting with new educators. Lets get connected!
Challenge #1: Join Twitter and follow 5 educators (Popular Education Hashtags) Getting Started Tips: Level 1-Baby Birds 1. Login to your account-or-create an account (@firstlastname -this is your hashtag) 2. Follow people in education/news organizations to develop your Professional Learning Network (Follow me @mstavi3, and check out who I follow for ideas) 3. Don’t be an egghead-add a picture or avatar (people want to have a face with the name) 4. Add a splash of profile information to your bio (not too much please) Level 2-Fledglings 1. Perform a retweet of someone you follow 2. Respond to a tweet 3. Compose and post a tweet or two 4. Tweet to a specific person (direct message (DM)) Level 3-Eagles 1. Find an educational article and tweet the link (make sure to shorten-bit.ly.com) 2. Tweet a photo related to education 3. Find a list of educational hashtags (other than the one I provided above ;-) 4. Tweet with a hashtag to a group *Bonus might be creating lists and participating in a chat. I look forward to see you on Twitter Tuesday night! There will be a post assessment on Wednesday, so make sure to do your homework ;-) As always, please let me know if you have any questions! Maria |
